SCSI CDROM/Interface identity question...
« on: July 29, 2012, 08:53:35 PM »
Hi all,

I bought a job lot of classic hardware a couple of years ago which I've since traded, sold and kept.  I'm down to the last bits and pieces and I've come across a SCSI CDROM/Interface without any distinguishing features.
I assumed it was a Squirrel but there's no logo on it.  Anybody on here good any idea what it is?  Any guidance would be a great help.

Cheers

The drive case is a very generic one - I've got a couple of those.

The SCSI adapter does look very much like a (black) Squirrel.

I concur....that is a Squirrel SCSI Interface.

I'll add to the consensus on this, it does indeed appear to be a Squirrel interface.
Who knows what the CD-ROM drive is - could be anything....
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

The CDROM looks pretty much like a Toshiba XM-4101 2x since it's only 1" tall - that model was my first CDROM drive. ;)

You're going to need the correct drivers, and they are here:

http://amiga.resource.cx/install/Squirrel_SCSI-112.dms

Get an 8x drive in there and it'll be a nice speedy unit...you may even want to keep it!
