Libs for O/S 3.9
« on: July 06, 2012, 07:36:18 PM »
I thought I had set up my Libs correctly for my real Amiga, but I am having the error message "cannot open resource.library version 44" which from previous posts appears a common fault. I have deleted Class Act and checked my Libs. but the problem is still there so I can only presume I have made a mess of my 680-- Libs.
My System os O/S 3.9 with 3.1 Roms, Blizzard 1260 with 128 MB Ram on board and 60 GB 2.5" Hd in a desktop A1200, and the Libs. which I think are at fault are as follows:-

Exactly as in my Libs partition:-...........[ Version info. (date)].............................Size
680x0.Library....................................[680x0 Library_sync.40.2 (14.1.2000)].........924
6581sid.Library..................................[v.1.1 (2.8.93)]......................................15960
68020.Library....................................[40.1  (4.12.99)].....................................2188
68030.Library....................................[40.1  (4.12.99)].....................................2196
68040.Library....................................[43.0  (5.2.98)].......................................692
68040.Library.sig............................................................................................152
68040dummy.Library..........................[46.5  (19.10.99)]....................................748
68040dummy.Library.sig..................................................................................152
68040new.Library..............................[43.1 (5.2.98)].........................................84736
68060.Library....................................[46.7 (19.10.99)].....................................103636
68060.Library.sig............................................................................................152

It seems to me I do not need all of these, but which ones I should delete/rename I have no idea.
 Please advise.
 Regards,
            Mike.

since you have a 68060, you dont need these :

680x0.Library [680x0 Library_sync.40.2 (14.1.2000)] 924
6581sid.Library [v.1.1 (2.8.93)] 15960
68020.Library [40.1 (4.12.99)] 2188
68030.Library [40.1 (4.12.99) ] 2196

for the others, I would advise you to read the doc about the phase5 68060 libraries to make sure you did everything right.

You have to check your Classes too, especially the /Gadgets.

There is no way to delete (uninstall) ClassAct. ClassAct replaces parts of OS 3.9 by older versions of the same files. The only way to get rid of ClassAct is to reinstall those files from a backup or from the OS 3.9 CD.

Check all files in the Classes directory for versions less than 44. Those files need to be updated.

Thank you. I also have a directory Devs/Classes/Gadgets. What this is for I do not know, and presumably these also have to be updated.
 Please confirm.
 Regards, Mike.

This directory has no meaning. It shouldn't exist.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I am still updating my Amiga using DOpus to transfer newer versions from Boing Bags 1-4 to my system.
So far, I have updated all gadgets without success, and updated my 680.. Libs without success.
Perhaps other Boing Bag items will help, but I must admit I am becoming increasingly pessimistic.

Thank you, I have come to the conclusion I have to install the Boing Bags, not simply use DOpus to update my files, as the "update" file in the Boing Bags can only be accessed by installation.
I have been trying to avoid this as I never like just installing updates blindly, but there appears to be no work-around. Naturally I have looked at the "ReadMe" files to see what is involved, but much of it has little meaning to me.
