Amiga911 Maker v1.54
« on: July 01, 2012, 09:42:43 PM »
Version 1.54 of the easy to use boot disk creator Amiga911 Maker has now been released.

Here is a list over the changes:

* AmigaOS 2.0 & 2.1 support! You can now create Amiga911 boot disks for these OS versions in addition to 3.0 & 3.1. But you will still need an Amiga with AmigaOS 3.0 or higher for actually creating the boot disks though.

* Two new programs are added: SnoopDos - the well known system and application monitor, and TurboText - a fast and highly customisable text editor.

* New import settings functionality! If the boot floppy is meant for the same Amiga you are using to create it with, you can now import various files and settings from the system to your project. This includes stuff like monitor drivers, file systems, scsi.device patches + processor, screenmode, keymap & CD-ROM settings.

* Picasso96 and Mediator support! You can also use the above mentioned import settings functionality for copying the Picasso96 files and settings that you may have installed to your project. And if you have a Mediator bus board, the files and settings for the Mediator can be imported as well. All of this can be useful for those who only use a GFX card as video output on the Amiga.

* New A911Extras Disk/Drawer. Since there are some limitations as to how much stuff that can be included on the Amiga911 disk, it is now possible to create an optional A911Extras disk which can contain all the stuff that will not fit on the main boot disk. But A911Extras can also be a drawer that may be put anywhere on any device (like compact flash cards or usb pen drives). A small script will be included, and this must first be used for setting up some assigns before attempting to use anything on/in the disk/drawer. Running the script a second time will remove the assigns.

* It is now possible to include all keymaps on the Amiga911 disk. After booting, the user can easily choose between the 14 keymaps by using a requester.

* Added a new PFS Tools option. If it's enabled, the PFSDoctor & pfsformat executables will be included on the boot disk you create.

* Support for AmigaGuide documents are now optional. If disabled, the Amiga911 disk will not contain any datatypes, and the amigaguide & datatypes libraries + the AddDatatypes command will be excluded as well. This might save up to 52 KB of disk space used. But it will still be possible to view text files since the xMore viewer by Jorma Oksanen is included instead (renamed to MulTiview).

* You can now at any time get a quick estimate over how much disk space will be used on the boot disk by selecting "Disk usage info" in the menu of Amiga911 Maker. Previously this info was only available after the archives was created.

* Several requester based scripts (mARK, HJSplitGui, DiskImageGui etc.) have been re-worked in order to make them more AmigaOS 2.x compatible.

* The Startup-Sequence & DosBoot files on the Amiga911 disk will now include info about what version of Amiga911 Maker it was created with + info about what OS version and processor the boot floppy is intended for.

* The "Cut" command is back since it turned out to be still some use for it.

* The screenmode.prefs file will now be stored directly on the disk instead of being present in the System1.lzx archive. This is because of safety reasons.

You can also take a look at this WB screenshot: http://www.amiga.org/gallery/index.php?n=3689

It was made after booting an Amiga911 disk which contains Poseidon, Picasso96 and Mediator files. In the middle-right of the image you can see the requester for changing the keymap used by the system, and in the bottom-left corner is A911Extras in the form of a drawer present on my Corsair USB stick.
