I've not set up a mail program in years. I think I've got most it, yet I can not send and I can not receive. I have till the 30th to back up my account, and I need it in format that the Amiga can work with.

Anyone know how to pull this off?

Thankx!

Sorry I almost never use Hotmail. Especially not from a mail client.

Thank you, I gathered that info from Google, but am not quite sure how to set it all up in YAM specifically.

Anyhow, in the mean time I created a new Gmail account and am busy downloading all my web page, and updating my accounts and such to use my new e-mail address.

VERY annoying. Microsoft pisses me off! I've had this web page and address for years, now all of a sudden I have to transfer to a new package which is not an easy process by any means, so I figure screw it, I'll let them shut it down and create a new web page with a new domain provider at another date.

In the mean time, the Star Wars Legacy project will continue, all but underground! ;)

If you're using GMail I made the following screenshots to help you out for YAM :)

1. You Right click the Menu and choose Configuration

2. In the "First Steps" tab you fill the following info

3. In the "TCP/IP" tab you fill the following info accordingly

If you don't mind deleting email from GMail after fetching them, you could enable the "Delete mail on server" option.

I've also recently setup Yam 2.7 on OS 3.1, works like a charm with Gmail with Amissl installed using pop 3.

On a similiar topic does anyone know how to turn off graphics in Yam? I currently don't have the GIF and JPEG datatypes installed so I get about 50 error messages when opening YAM complaining that it can't load the GUI images, however I can still use YAM without these images. I could ofcourse just download the datatypes but I'd rather just turn off graphics all together to avoid system slow down. I've checked the standard YAM options and looked at the config text file. Does anyone know if turning off graphics is possible?

Use the "empty" theme. It's available on Aminet: http://aminet.net/comm/yam/empty_theme.lha

Thanks mate, I ended up making my own custom theme, essentially the same as the empty theme on aminet I would imagine.
