ALCOMP Kickstart switch problem
« on: March 04, 2012, 09:56:12 AM »
I have this old kickstart switcher board laying around with ROM1.3 installed, so I installed it in B2000 machine (rev4.4), well it worked fine with Kick Rom1.2 & 1.3, but can't boot ROM 2.04 nor 3.1, so I can't figure out why? If I install these later roms straight on mobo, they work fine.. I know, that some older mobos required jumper wire from pin 1 to 31 on ROM socket, but this isn't the case with given setup. So why this ALCOMP board isn't compatible with later ROMs? Or is it?

It's this board --->

Really, no one?

I suspect it's some pinout conflict with newer roms, because it gives me RED screen and blinking power led. Can I use jump wire/cut trace method to make this work or simply swap I/O chip (which is GAL16V8-25LP) to some other version? This would be much easier if I had schematic of this board, but regretfully I don't.

Ok, I know this IS silly little board, with no serious use, but still it would be interesting to make it work...
