That's a good question!  I had this exact setup in my A2000.  But I *can't* remember....argh!

My first reaction is that since the 2MB RAM on the Picasso II is video ram for the Picasso's use only, it shouldn't affect the Amiga's normal RAM limitation.

But some niggling memory is telling me I only put 6MB on my SupraRAM card because of some conflict with some other hardware.....i.e. 1MB on the motherboard, 6MB SupraRAM and the remaining 2MB RAM space was being taken up by some other hardware in my A2000 which was either the 2MB on the Picasso II card or 2MB from my 040's 32-bit ram which needed to be mapped into the A2000's 9mb space for some reason (DMA transfers?).

So i take it the 8MB fast ram on my GVP HC8+ or any other Zorro based card is Zorro II ram right?

And the fast ram which is on a CPU accelerator such as the GVP 68030 accelerators is NOT Zorro II (since it plugs in the CPU Fast slot) and you can have as much as you want. No?

I have an A2000 with a Picasso II and my 8MB ram board had to be dropped to 6MB for it to work correctly.

My Accelerator also has memory and like others stated isn't limited by the ZorroII space as its in the CPU slot.

If I remember correctly the 2MB of the Picasso II is mapped inside the Zorro II address space, so you'll have 2MB of the 8MB used leaving 6MB.

My Picasso II+ has the option to run in segmented mode or something which apparently doesn't map the 2MB into the Zorro II address space.

It's very slow when jumpered like that though, not sure if the Picasso II has it too.

Of course it has - but then you are restricted to the old Picasso software which is slow itself compared to Picasso96.
