no credit?
« on: February 21, 2012, 03:42:58 AM »
Just thought I would try and start yet another fanboy/b*tch thread on why they don't give credit where it is due to games where it all started. Like Stardust for example. IT appeared on the amiga first, and after visiting some websites on the PS VITA release of it i see no credit due to where it first appeared. I am sure there are other games out there too.. I just think it would be nice/cool if they included credit or even the actual original release on the platform to see how it evolved from oldskool to present day. Any other games out there from amiga?

Amiga computing firsts in general don't get recognized by the mainstream - so comes as no surprise they'd continue that pattern with software.

Well that is no surprise, I have fights with my son about that all the time. He is into all these games of today and its a fight cause i show him the same type of game from our/my generation and he will fight tooth and nail that its not the the same. Drives me nuts. It might have prettier graphics and different/better game play but in the end its a rip off off an earlier version. Outrun for example, he liked it on the xbox but the original he turned his nose at.. But thats a whole different type of b*tch fest there!

I have also noticed this. If the first was done on the Amiga, they often; Don't mention it or give credit to another platform for it.

I am not sure why but a lot of people out there seem to pretent the Amiga never existed or vehementely attack anything to do with it. Look at the comments on any mention of anything to do with the Amiga on places like slashdot.

This seems to include Commodore the company in general but people seem to be a little more willing to give credit to the C64 in general.

Didn't you know? The Amiga never really exited. It's all a big sham. Those computers you have. Recased Ataris with a rudimentary UNIX variant for an OS.

Yeah, I've seen alot of old school games, too, that have been revived and treated like hot new innovative games.  Prince of Persia is one of my beefs.

No wonder. When those games were released 20 years ago there were only few million Amiga users world wide.

Give it a few more years and one of two things will happen:

History revisionists will dig up some DOS-based program written by Bill Gates which typifies any new game or program which ever gets released, or

History revisionists will somehow prove that Steve Jobs created the entire genre of some game or program, and without his vision the latest releases would never have been.

Really.  Does anyone remember the name of the guy who created Pac-Man?  I didn't think so ;)

I rather give the credit to the people who made the game possible, not the platform that happened to be the one at top at the time the game was first created.

Coder : Harri Tikkanen (SCY)

I just love the fact that Amiga very first product before they made Amiga was kinda of 25 years ahead of time, well according to the wii fitness board any way.
