Got CF? Sure… Make that a double!
« on: October 28, 2011, 10:38:09 PM »
I just finished my first case-mod on my A1200, see my blog: Got CF? Sure… Make that a double!

While using this dual CF2IDE card i can insert two CF cards and use them simultaneously ;-)

Sneak preview:

Next case-mod will be installing a HxC 2001 SD Floppy emulator.

hmmm i think i like that, does it allow you to use both cf cards at once, or do you have separate wb installs on each cf card and swap over as necessary ?

You cut your holes neatly, maybe you should go into business :)

Thanks Snoozy!

This is only my second modification. A few days ago I did a SD card install on my C64, see previous post on my blog.

I think that i will keep the day job for a while.

Keep in mind 95% was planning and 5% of the time i went mental
holding the dremel and some small files.

Snoozy,

simultaneously - Happening, existing, or done at the same time.

so the answer is yes :)

Nice work :)

I tried to use a dual CF2IDE adapter in my A1200 and it wouldn't work with more than one card plugged in. The one I used was 44 pin (draws power from the IDE cable) and I notice yours is 40 pin with an extra Berg connector for power.

Are you drawing your power from the IDE port (using a 44 pin -> 40 pin adapter) or from elsewhere?

Wow, that looks very nice :)

Are you using 4xIDE or something? I had an issue with 4xIDE and FastATA hanging on cold boot with my CF adapter. It still works, just I always had to ctrl-amiga-amiga after a cold boot. I switched to a "Disk on Module" which does not have that issue...

This is an older picture of my 1200. Its basically the same now but with one more port for eSATA.

I'd love to add dual CF like you have done, but I don't want the cold boot issue to return and I don't want to give up my eSATA.

I emailed elbox about it, but they have not responded yet...

I used a straigt 44-pin to 40-pin cable to connect the CF2IDE to the Amiga 1200 main board. No other interfaces are used.

I have added comments to the pictures on my blog. Please feel free to read and post your comments.
