IDE CONTROL
« on: January 05, 2004, 01:31:08 AM »
Hi All,
In my ongoing effort to upgrade my A-2000 I bought a Catweasel and an X-Surf ethernet board.  I noticed that both have IDE connectors on them.  Since the documentation is very sparse for both devices I don't know much about them and nothing about the IDE connections.  I am wondering about the possibility of using these connections to operate IDE hard drives and CD drives and burners.  If so what if any additional software is required.

Hi DGB,

you must copy the XSurfIDE driver with its icon, in Expansion: (for the XSurf card)

You can't use CD burner, but only CDROM and HD 2.5" (max 300 mA 44 pins) HD 3.5" (40 pins).

Ciao

PS- the IDE ports of the XSurf, are useful for buckup pourposes, due its slow speed.
