AntiVirus for a KS1.3 machine
« on: September 09, 2011, 11:04:14 AM »
I'm looking for the least out of date freely downloadable AntiVirus to KS1.3 machines.

VirusZ, a personal favourit but stopped support at 3.07 and seem the least likely candidate.

BootX 4.50 is a candidate but I don't like the GUI (want it discrete like VirusZ/VC).

VirusChecker 6.33 is the candidate I'm leaning towards (or newer 6.53 if KS1.3 is support, v7+ seem to have killed KS1.3 support). This to me seems like the best candidate, especialy as it uses libs other programs can also use.

Am I forgetting something here? Help please.

How many viruses do you get on the Amiga nowadays? I don't run a virus scanner - it seems pointless to me.
Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 128MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1

Just because there might not come new ones doesn't meen old ones automaticly disapear from the wild, so I do run across one now and again. It's a security measure just like wearing a seatbelt... useless until it's needed. Just the other day I found an ADF with virusinfected files and going through my pile of "empty disks" will quite frequently show an infected bootblock when about to get formated.

Ive run into at least one virus from adf's as well. The risk is there if you buy old floppies too.
I'll check tonight if the tool i used is 1.3 compatible.
