IndivisionECS for OCS?
« on: August 19, 2011, 08:07:14 PM »
I have a pure OCS A500 system for compability reasons and wonder if IndivisionECS would work without compromise the compability aspect?

Using OCS for compatibility reasons? WTF... ECS is backwards compatible with OCS!

Granted most things work but there are some poor written or hw banging things that can fail and for that I want a compatible system.

Apparently Google is not my friend as I ran by him and he directed me to ask the question in my favorit geek forum. I'm simply asking to see if anyone have experienced compability issues with some odd software or demos?

So is AGA supposed to be. I'm pretty sure there is some OCS software that bites the dust on ECS, but it ought to be pretty rare, and patches most likely exist for these few cases.

I would like to know what extremely rare and "brain dead" OCS software actually fails on ECS?

ECS and AGA are advanced graphics modes. They don't even get enabled until Setpatch is run or they are specifically enabled by application software. (ECS or AGA games).

P.S. I can get you a really good price on an OCS Denise if you want one!

Some SW (mostly games) simply did write to registers with move.w even if some bits weren't defined under OCS. With ECS (and later AGA) these bits suddenly had a function and writing random crap to them could lead to undesired effects.

1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else
