Simms: 60ns, 70ns, 80ns and 100ns
« on: May 28, 2011, 01:17:05 AM »
I have a small question about using simms in my system.  Is there a big difference if I use 60ns simms opposed to 100ns?  Will I really see much of a difference between the two?  Thanks.

It really depends on the memory controller logic. If it can take advantage of faster memory there is a potentially nice performance gain from 100 ns to 60 ns. But you don't say much about your system and where the memory is used.

SpeedGeek is correct.

Is this going into a 16 bit memory controller in an A2000, A500 or are they going into an A4000 or another accelerator board?

Example A4000 can benefit from 60ns memory, (you must use a ramsey G set program to get the full speed, can be found on Aminet)
An 68000 with a 16 bus probably cannot take advantage of anything under 100ns.
