Voodoo 4 PCI and Linux
« on: December 26, 2003, 11:05:45 PM »
Hi!

My Voodoo 3 broke recently so I baught a Voodoo 4 for my AmigaOne. The problem is that I can't get it to work! When I use the tdfx-drivers the display gets terrible. If I use fbdev the gfx looks ok but in wrong colours.

I had a small accident with my AmigaOne earlier wich broke my Voodoo 3 and I'm still worried that something might be wrong with it but I want to check here first if it's supposed to work with a Voodoo 4 PCI or if I might have missed something.

I'm using xfree86 4.2 from unstable.

I've tried the card with my Mediator and it worked fine.

what version of Xfree do you use?
I might be wrong, but it looks like you've set wrong card model to use by Xfree. This could destroy your card (wrong RAMDAC setings)

The Power RangerZ uses Amiga, and You??

didn't saw that :-D

try to download xfree 3.3 or 3.6, and if this won't help, try to use standard 16 bit X instead of an accelerated X for voodoo..

Set the screen to 8 bit, and it will work. You have the same card as me, and I never got it working correctly either

Thanks a lot for the answer. I was really worried. I haven't tried 8-bit though since I moved the card to my A4000 for now and I'm not feeling like setting up my AmigaOne right now :-) .
