Fusion + OS3.9, Fusion + CGX4, Xpostfacto..
« on: September 16, 2010, 06:04:46 PM »
Hello! Still trying to get Mac emulation to work. Since my other thread has a misleading title, Ive opened up this new one. I hope that's okay. I've succesfuly set up my partitions now and am able to boot into macos using shapeshifter. I would like to use Fusion though, and have encountered 2 problems:

1) I dont have a driver for CyberGraphX4. It should be called cgx4DirectXL and surely someone must have this. I've found a patch that is supposed to patch the CGX3 version of this driver, but apparently it doesnt work on my system. So can someone please be so kind to send me the driver file? The only other mode I've gotten to work is AmiDirectXL which is a 2 colour PAL mode. Not much fun.

2) Im using Blizkick together with Setpatch for OS3.9. When I run Fusion, my machine freezes/crashes as soon as there's video output. When I leave out Setpatch it does get a bit further, but freezes. When I leave Blizkick out aswell, the emulation works fine. I've read somewhere that Fusion doesnt like OS3.9, is there something I should add to Setpatch' parameters? Or is my blizkick line faulty?

Here are both lines from my startup-sequence:

c:BlizKick hd1:devs/kickstarts/kick31_os39.rom EXTRESBUF=250000 MODULE bppcfix coldresetcard dosresetcard newalert alertfix fusionreserve romfixes noclick bblank FastFileSystem FileSystem.resource ram-handler console.device exec.library shell bootmenu QUIET;

c:setpatch SKIPROMUPDATES "scsi.device" NOROMUPDATE QUIET

(I have IDE-Fix Express, hence the skipped rom update for scsi.device)

Fusion worked ok last time I tried although ShapeShifter works better (very stable although there are incompatible Mac programs). My setup...

AmigaOS 3.9 BB3 on 3000T (but similar worked in a 4000T too)
CSMK3 68060@75MHz
Mediator 3000T/4000T + Voodoo 4

My S:Startup-Sequence starts like this...

BlizKick Devs:My3000.ROM QUIET
SetPatch NOROMUPDATE QUIET
Failat 21
MuFastZero MOVESSP ON

I use my own custom AmigaOS 3.9 "conservative" ROM image and the Mu 68060.library (on Aminet). There is ShapeShifter video drivers in the Mu package which work well in P96 and supports CGFX as well called MuEVD. I believe the FusionReserve is not necessary with a newer exec.library or by a setting in the CyberStorm boot menu using escape. I don't use anything like it.

so, after destroying 2 bvisions, Im back! And finally solved those annoying Fusion problems. Just in case someone wants to know:

You can patch the CGX3 Fusion driver using the patch that can still be found in cached vgr.com pages. It needs the Fusion 3.1 CGX3 driver to work though.

Make sure you have set up an 8 bit 640x480 mode in CGXMode otherwise emulation wont start.

Thanks to this thread http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=22091 I found out I needed to run the fixpatchmac patch and disable kickrom mapping in Fusion.

So, now I finally have Fusion and Shapeshifter working on the same dedicated partition.

..so has anyone ever tried running mac os x under ifusionppc using xpostfacto?

and.. is there any way I can run ifusion on my blizzppc? or will it *really* never work?

I sort of know what answers to expect. but I like a challenge now and then :)

AFAIK iFusion PPC runs only on CSPPC. I haven't heard anyone running it on BPPC.
