Keyboard adaptor question
« on: March 29, 2011, 10:45:56 PM »
Does anyone know if a PS2 to AT keyboard adaptor cable will work with a PC-KEY interface?

Swimming in PS2 keyboards but AT seem to be pretty rare.

So technically, what you want is an AT to PS2 keyboard adapter?

On the subject, is there such a beast as an Amiga keyboard -> PS/2 or AT port adapter? Just curious - it'd be kind of fun to have.
Computers: Amiga 1200, DEC VAXStation 4000/60, DEC MicroPDP-11/73
Synthesizers: Roland JX-10/MT-32/D-10, Oberheim Matrix-6, Yamaha DX7/FB-01, Korg MS-20 Mini, Ensoniq Mirage/SQ-80, Sequential Circuits Prophet-600, Hohner String Performer

OK, now you're either confusing me intentionally, or I got the gist of your message correctly and don't understand your motivation.
You want to plug an Amiga keyboard into a PC? Why?

You want to plug an Amiga keyboard into a PC? Why?

Maybe he wants to use an original Amiga keyboard while he is running WinUAE, or AmigaForever to get a more Amiga like feel for his emulation.

He can buy a Catweasel card for his PC and use an Amiga keyboard and joysticks, plus read and write Amiga floppy disks (just not boot from them).

There is also the Individual Computers Keyrah that turns an A1200, or A600 keyboard & case into a PC USB keyboard, but he wanted PS2 instead of USB.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Good points David.
I didn't consider emulators.
Jens little card does provide that function.
The Keyrah working with a USB interface makes more sense if you're trying to stuff a mini-itx motherboard into a 1200 or 600 case.

Both solutions are a little different than what he asked for, but pretty close.

Actually, my theoretical intent was so's I can use a KVM switch between my tower PC and my Amiga, now that I'm getting a machine with VGA out. My new 3000 is coming with a PS/2->Amiga mouse adapter, and while I know there are PC keyboard->Amiga adapters, it'd be fun to do it the other way around :)
