A1000 no video
« on: March 18, 2011, 04:59:29 AM »
Hi there,

Got an A1000 for nothing -- Rev A.  Basically you power it up, there's a faint blue stripe up at the top of the monitor, and that's it.  Disk drive whirs endlessly.

I had an A2000 with similar problem -- turned out to be damage from a battery leak.  No such situation here.  I've swapped out the CPU.. no change, although oddly the power supply seems to run a bit more vigorously.

Checked the floppy cable to make sure it wasn't backwards.

From what I've read, I'm down to the Agnus chip, or possibly the power supply?  I know with modern PCs you can have a bad power supply that runs but doesn't give the machine what it needs -- is that the case with Amiga?  Or does dead PSU = no action at all from the PSU, no blue line on the screen, etc?

If it's the Agnus... anyone know where I could source one?

Lastly -- if not... any other possibilities?

Any help is most appreciated!!
