Amigas in India?
« on: March 06, 2011, 07:15:47 PM »
I heard that after the Escom time Petro sold a lot Amigas to India for TV and video purposes. I wonder how big was the market there and how many Amigas were sold - probably not so much because I never heard of a software for our beloved computer which originates in India? Does anybody knows more?

Something a bit iffy about that site methinks, no chance of a nice home delivery of Vindaloo Amiga then... :D

"Think of my surprise when I learned that all of our inventory was sold for $75,000.00 to a company in India, when we were generating more than that on a monthly basis. This created a big operational hole for the company and caused us great harm in our ability to move forward. This hardware was not even put up for bid or auction, and nobody was consulted in the process."

Perhaps connected to the above. Dunno.

During the show '97 BCS India held in New Delhi on December 12, a company nammed Shaf Information & Teknologies PVT Bombay (India) has signed an order for 2000 Amiga A1200. Delivery is scheduled for February 1998. Shaf is a company born in 1993. Its business is video, it has a network of 50 dealers and 10 studios across India. It is also it which is the official Amiga dealer for this country, but also a reseller for Scala, CIS, Deskstation Technology, Inc., Digital Processing Systems Ltd., Eyeon Software, Inc.. and NewTec. The order for 2000 machines is the largest order for the region, according to Amiga International. The A1200 in India are mainly used for cable operators, television and video-graphic industry. Finally, according to Pradeep Kohli, chief financial officer Shaf is a "long-term agreement with Amiga International " and that "other orders could "see the light".
