AfA-OS v4.0 uses it's own skinning format, completely different to the VisualPrefs format.
Indeed, this format is different to the AmigaOS4.0 format, the MorphOS format, and somewhat bizarely, even the AROS skinning format.
I played with the AROS skins briefly, however experienced some stability issues that I have not had a chance to investigate further.
Basically, I simply commented VisualPrefs and other UI hacks/patches out of the startup-sequence, then selected the theme from the (absolutely awful wizard.library GUI) AFA prefs program. I believe they are stored in Prefs/Presets/Skins.
AfA-OS is a terrific way of breathing new life into 68k classic systems, however there would appear to be a considerable amount of trial and error involved in getting everything working correctly, partly due to the lack of documentation.
That being said, it is arguably the best thing to have happened to 68k classic AmigaOS in years, and I personally look forward to seeing just how much of AROS can be back-ported!
Cheers,
James
