Deneb - Zoram - Ethernet
« on: January 24, 2011, 07:02:00 PM »
Hi All,

I just purchased a Deneb and I am looking for the best USB ethernet card to use with it.  Any advice?  I prefer one that I can buy through newegg or amazon.

Also, I am thinking about picking up a Zoram 128MB module but I have heard some concerns regarding conflicts with Deneb.  Can anyone shed some light on this?  Is anyone using this successfully, without having to disable DMA on the Deneb.

Thanks!

Using a Linksys USB200M here. It's faster than my old Zorro cards, A4066 included, with the same (or less) CPU use. Seems to work well overall.

I have both Deneb and ZorRAM 128MB, these cards work just fine in my A3000.

There's a rumor that Buster 11 has some (previously unknown) DMA bugs that were discovered by Michael Boehmer when he designed ZorRAM, but he was able to work around it in firmware. You may want to ask him directly, he's a very friendly guy and has an account on amiga.org (mboehmer_e3b).

i can second the linksys USB200M also, used it.I still prefer the mediator 100Mbit for low cpu overhead tho.

Thanks for the updates.  I think I am going to pick up a zoram then.  Any other suggestions for USB ethernet?  I am concerned about the design of this Linksys one.  That little tab design has always scared me.  I had a modem like that that broke.
