What, is this some "hack"? A1000
« on: January 19, 2011, 09:17:17 PM »
Bought another A1000 couple of days ago (PAL machine) with 256kb RAM expansion, all in working order. My curiosity arised about these wires--->

Can anyone confirm, what these switched wires are for? The switch itself was broken, so couldn't relly try machines' behavior with this. One of dual wires is connected to TP3 and fifth resistor (?), other pair is at TP2 and sixth resistor (?)...

I'm probably completely wrong, but that looks like the placement and wire configuration for the low pass audio filter.  My guess is that the switch will disable the filter by bypassing it around that chip.  I put an always-disabled lowpass on mine back in the day, and that wire configuration looks familiar.

Wow! I would never ever think of that, thanks! I believe it's the answer. I think this machine was probably involved in demoscene at some point and maybe music stuff, because it still have "Intel Outside" sticker on front cover! :=)
