-any good recommendation of a Soft to prevent accidentally HD formatting

When I was working with mentally handicapped ppl I had to lock most of the drives to keep everything from being erased.

Not just from format but they had this way of somehow selecting ALL icons and throwing them in the trash or something.

I would say that they purposely formatted the drive than, as they must have chosen "do you really wish to format" tab.

Mentally ill ppl randomly click things without reading what it says.  Even smart ppl with severe ADD can do that.
Or ppl on drugz.

Lock DOES prevent you from Formatting a HD, just tried it a moment ago from both the CLI & the Workbench

I'm fairly sure that this works only for quick format. Regular format (device level) will work regardless of filesystem lock. Normal format will just ACTION_INHIBIT the drive and then use CMD_FORMAT on device level. I can't see how FS lock could stop that.

Finally, whether Lock stops ACTiON_FORMAT depends on the filesystem implementation. I doubt every filesystem does this correctly.
