Bootable Disk

Is it legal to distribute parts of the workbench and system files per this tutorial in order to create a bootable disk for a custom developed game?

CU Amiga used to come with a bootable CD-ROM.

If it was legal for them, it should be legal for you.

Either way, do it anyway.

I agree, although it seems like a gray area.  I don't think Commodore ever had a problem with it.

See, yet another reason to get Aros up to speed ;)

Commodore had an agreement you had to sign that allowed distribution of all or some of the Workbench files, so that's what happened then. I have no idea what it means today???

There was a license agreement somewhere that specified which files could be redistributed. Of course, none of that really matters anymore.

The only time you can buy a 'legal' copy of Workbench these days, as far as I know, is if you purchase Amiga Forever from Cloanto. Reckon they might be the only ones to object (but I very much doubt they would bother...) :)

Myself, I say go ahead you'd have to be very unlucky to find anyone who would object... :)

Great thank you all for clearing this up. I have just finished configuring the emulator and am now starting to work on the game itself. I will post a thread when its ready for beta testing.
