Retr0brite A4000T Bezel
« on: October 03, 2010, 07:56:07 PM »
I'd like to retr0brite my A4000T front bezel, is there an easy way to get the sticker on the bezel off? or do you think it will be ok to retr0brite with it on?

The stuff doesn't really do anything to the sticker regular water doesn't, so the colour won't be coming off or anything like that. But it will be very fragile while wet. One option would be to temporarily cover it with some kind of wax, blu-tack or similar stuff so it will stay safe.

I assume it is a paper sticker and not the aluminum badge type thing as found on older models? The aluminum ones come off nicely with a bit of heat from a hair dryer or such, but paper stickers are in my experience nearly impossible to take off without wrinkling at least one corner a little bit. Even more so when embedded in a "well" on the case...

It looks pretty thick. It's not an aluminum badge either.

It has a clear plastic film over it, which will probably peel off, as mine did.  The three colors and the "commodore" chickhead is bonded on and won't come off.

Unless he's very lucky, I doubt he has a Commodore chickenhead on his 4000T.

However, I'd just go ahead and leave the A4000T sticker on, it seemed to be a plastic sticker and shouldn't be affected.

Wrong assumption! The regular chickenlip badges on the A4000 will go BLACK when leaving them on while retrobrighting! The metal seems to react to the peroxide and it will ruin the badge!!

Maybe the 4000T label is not effected (different material) but are you willing to take that chance?
