A600 clockport questions
« on: September 06, 2010, 08:59:12 AM »
I'm looking at installing 2 clockport based items in my A600.

I'm looking at buying an A603 and using the clockport for the first item, and also one of http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=42&products_id=208
to run the second item.

I'm just not sure on the room the AmigaKit adaptor takes up. Does anyone have a photo handy of one that is actually already installed in an A600 to see exactly what room it needs?

And secondly, is there any hardware/software reason why two clockport device can't be used at once?

I don't know if both Clockports will work at the same time, I hope they do because the 4-Port Clockport Expander doesn't work on the A603 unfortunately.

I don't have one of AmigaKit's Clockport adapters, but here's a photo of my A600 with an A603, Subway, Kickstart ROM Switcher and IDE-CF adapter installed inside, it might give you a bit of an idea of how much space is left with that stuff at least:

A1200 030@28Mhz/2MB+32MB/RTC/KS3.1/IDE-CF+4GB/4-Way Clockport Expander/IndivisionAGA/PCMCIA NIC
A1200 020@14Mhz/2MB+8MB/FPU/RTC/KS3.0/IDE-CF+2GB/S-Video
CD32 020@14Mhz/2MB+8MB/RTC/KS3.1/IDE-CF+4GB
A600 030@30Mhz/2MB+64MB/RTC/IDE-CF+4GB/Subway USB/S-Video/PCMCIA NIC/USB Numeric Keypad+Hub+Mouse+Control Pad
A500 000@7Mhz/512kB+512kB/ROM Switcher/KS3.1+1.3/S-Video

Interesting. I'm hoping the A603 clockport and Gayle clockport adaptor can both be used at the same time.

Is the 4-port adaptor you refer to the Quadroport?

The Clockport Expander I have is a new model designed and built by DJBase, it's compatible with the Indivision which other older models wouldn't be without a riser. Here it is in the A1200:

It most likely won't work, since both clockports will be mapped into the same location in the Amiga's memory map.
