5,25" floppies question

I never used those big floppy drives before, but remember reading you need to run some 'driver' so that workbench can use them (something about disk change). What about software like x-copy? can it read/write 5,25" just like 3,5" ?

ok, i tried it and it seems to work just like 3,5".
but I have a feeling it should not be pushed beyond track 39.

now I need some software to backup C64 diskettes, Amiga can do it, right?

I may be wrong but I think that you need either a A64 dongle or Easy 1541 cable to hook up a 1541 or 1571 Commodore drive to your Amiga to get it to read C64 disks.

I'm using my A64 with at 1571 to backup all of my old C64 5.25" floppies right now... slow going but it works!

it seems all that is needed is to slow down ordinary 5,25" drive with a potentiometer.

I've used the 1541 program with a 1020 (I think that is the 5.25 drive) to make D64 images.  Worked fine on my 2000/060.  You do need to play with the drive speed a little, though.  IIRC, there is a program in the package to help with that.

Also, I had a 5.25 drive (probably still have it here in a box) which formatted HD disks at 880k, so it pretty much looked just like a 3.5 drive to the system.  Another neat feature was the drive change triggered with the write protect.
