Anyone Know How To Upload Utils Onto Aminet !
« on: July 26, 2010, 02:17:18 PM »
Hi Folks :)

I have been trying to upload some new DVD burning utils onto Aminet for the past couple of days ( see my thread 'Opinions Wanted For New DVD Burner Utils' ) for more details.

The normal way of uploading seems to be down at the moment and there is no sign of it being available again.

Click this link to see what I mean,

http://aminet.net/upload

I have been trying to use the alternative FTP uploading method mentioned on the Aminet site using my old iMac G4, but when I click on the FTP link all I get is a window called 'new' on my iMac screen.

When I try to drag & drop the utils into the window I get the message (The item "ADVDutils.lha" could not be moved because "new" cannot be modified)

Could anyone please help, as I would really like to get these utils out there for the Amiga community to try/test.

Cheers  :drink:

Franko

I like to use ncftp.  It's fast and has a familiar unix-like feel.  Ncftp is available for Mac and Amiga.
So, assuming "ADVDutils.lha" is in your Amiga's ram disk:

12.Ram Disk:> ncftp aminet.net
ncftp>cd /new
ncftp>put ADVDutils.lha

Other people prefer FTPMount because you simply drag icons into a drawer to upload files.  Both ncftp for Amiga and FTPMount are on Aminet.

Thank you for the info, much appreciated :)

My Amiga set up isn't on the internet but I am looking into that (thank's to DBAlex for the info, on how to do this).

I received a reply from Aminet and they have allowed me to upload the utils via email. I have sent the utils to Aminet now, just have to wait and see for when they appear on Aminet. I'll put a thread and link on Amiga.org when the utils are available for anyone who may like to try them out.
