A3000 problem booting, yellow flash (fixed now)
« on: December 22, 2003, 01:59:01 AM »
My A3000 was booting to 2.x np when suddenly it began to flash a yellow screen when booting.
If I hold down both mouse buttons on boot I can still get it to boot the old os np but when I try to get 2.x if just flashes yellow.
This problem cleared up for a while and I was almost thinking it was a glitch but now it appears to be back for good.
Just because I think everybody is out to get me doesn\\\'t mean that they\\\'re not.

Sounds like a memory issue. I get the same thing when I try to add one of my extra sets of 32MB simms to the accelerator. Try taking out all the zips and installing them a meg at a time.

Yea, could be...
The amiga does a few tests on boot, the Capslock key will normally 'flash' once,
and the screen will flash colors if there is a Fault Condition;

Dark Grey Red (indicates error in ROM)
Light Grey Green (error in CHIP RAM)
White Blue (error in a Custom Chip)

Yellow (680x0 found an error)

Er, check all your chips are seated anyway...

If the Zorro riser card (daughterboard) is not fitted, or it has a fault, it also causes the yellow screen when booting OS 2.x or higher.

@Castellen @Amigamad
Pulled the riser board, cleaned the connection, reseated, it fired right up.  Never thought it could be that simple.
Thanks, you sire's are  geniuses . :-)
