I saw the Multiple Classic Computer as preview at Vesalia. It shall come soon at the price of 199 Euro.

It looks very tempting to have several consoles/retro computers in a single box.

Quote

Purpose and Intent
To produce an End product which plugs into any television as a retro gaming console (100+ C64 games, Joystick)
To support the classic computer programs and operation as original equipment fades out
To utilize ONE (1) system to emulate MULTIPLE different classic computers (e.g. C-64 and Amiga)
To reconfigure and update many different classic computers with ease
To allow all emulation to be done in real HW design -- not based on Software emulation
To ensure the original real time behavior and reaction time for games and applications
To allow the user to add keyboard, mouse, additional DB-9 Joysticks
To allow new device connectivity: USB, micro SD-card interface for data import/export

If they manage to build cores for Amiga 500, Sega Mega Drive and X68000 (The best machines of the late 1980ies), I am all for it. If it uses the same hardware as the Minimig, this means that it will have AGA!

What on earth gives you the idea that it will do AGA?

That assumes that the person who writes the AGA core releases it to the general public.

You do know what they say about assumptions, right?

Questions from an Amiga point of view:

Will it support AGA?
Will it allow a hard file (Hard Drive emulation)?
How many floppies will it emulate?
What processor will it emulate?
How fast will the emulated processor be?
How much system RAM is there and how is it allocated?

I think I'll wait for the Minimig AGA.  :)

Looks like they took the C64dtv development kit and reworked that into product. If the same folks that did the DTV did this... that's great as there were Commodore freaks...there will be Amiga support at some point!

I don't think it will at first if they're using their own sources. But what if they take the AGA compatible core that is bieng worked on and implement it into this product... wow... that would be great. What if they've ccleaned up and added to the Mini-MIG sources.

At any rate this is all good news. Anytime I see an ABS tooled case that means the developer has some dough...(no non tooled plexi case)

What kind of video out does it support?  Composite, component, VGA, etc.....If it only has a composite output for TV use only as the wiki suggests, then I'm skipping it.

Also, the wiki just hints at possible Amiga compatibility in the future so for now, it's just a C64.

After re-reading the wiki, I see it supports S-Video.  I have to have something better for me to consider dropping some cash for this device other than vague hints about Amiga compatibility and S-Video output.  I'll get a Natami or the FPGAARCADE Replay board.

Yeah, I'm really not interested in this or any "hook it up to the tv and play classic games!" type things.

I'll do minimig AGA.
Back away from the EU-SSR!

It's good news for people who's systems have died, or don't have the money to buy 101 expansions. If someone wants to get back into Amiga, point them at this instead of the 2 thousand dollar alternative.
I personally prefer the FPGAArcade because of the optional Amiga floppy port and it's also an open system that may get plenty of homebrew upgrades.

I saw this  at the Cincinnati C4 Expo  this May,and it was running fine as a C64 ;but  Amiga  still to come.
Nice guys but I already have a C64 and several dozen spares.
 And a DTV joystick!,too.

Hope they get this going with more systems  emulated.

Good on them for trying to turn this into a proper product (though the design instantly labels it "bargain basement" unfortunately - they'd do well to get a proper designer rework the case and label) but for me too the FPGA Arcade seems more appealing.

If these guys opens up the specs and try to create a community around it then it'd instantly be more interesting.

The MMC only supports 12bit colour like the minimig so it wont be providing Minimig AGA support.

You can find more details about the MMC in this thread http://www.minimig.net/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=126
Sam440ep 667mhz 512megs OS4.1
Minimig, 4MB RAM, ARM add-on board
Amiga 1200 Eyetech mk4 Tower, Blizzard 1240 040/40 32MB Fast ram, IDEFix Express mk2, mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3 PCI, PCI network card, OS3.9 BB2.

Unfortunately, I have to agree.  It's nice to see a custom case...but they really need something that looks a little less "automobile stereo amplifier".

Disappointingly, both the DTV and this product miss the opportunity to incorporate more of the retro look into the case - i.e. the DTV could at least have used the colour of the casing of the original C64 (not everyone associates the competition pro with the C64 - here in N. America for instance, they weren't as common).

With this product, for instance, perhaps the case could be cast in a light cream coloured plastic, which would be the colour of the C64c (the last C64) and the Amiga 500.  The label could also do some cool stuff to bring back memories of the casings of the C64c and Amiga500, which were similar (like incorporate simulated vent grooves, etc. etc.).

Very cool to see this project though.  If it turns into two fully functional computers I would be tempted to pick one up.
