FA: External High Density floppy drive
« on: June 10, 2010, 12:17:09 AM »
Up on eBay is a Power XL high density external disk drive. Works fine. Has the newest software available for these drives. Link is:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Power-XL-High-Density-external-drive-/170497277347?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b26dfda3

I started it at a fair price IMHO.

Looks like a great candidate for a vinyl dye project  :)

I may be bidding on this.

Using the postal calculator it works out $50 for postage to mainland UK! lol so I don't think we will clash mouse buttons over this one ;)

Sounds about right for Priority Mail International.

Amiga_Nut: Yep, Priority Mail International is pretty high these days. I can't tell you how many times European bidders have asked me why my shipping is so ?%&#@!!%! expensive.... Then, if the item didn't sell, I get messages asking when I will re-list the item with the 'correct' shipping cost....:madashell:

Save: Ohhh, man.... I'm lookin' at that drive too..... Hope we don't get into a bidding war.... Not like I have much $$$ to spend, but.....

:uzi:   :flak:

I think it has a metal case, not plastic, so regular spray paint after a light sanding should work just fine.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

This one actually has a plastic case! (more of a cover really) It is not quite as yellowed as the photo makes it appear. My camera just will not do any better. The plastic has a small Power Computer logo impressed in the right front top corner - Only one I've seen like this.
You all are right about shipping abroad. It has killed many a sale. AND Priority Mail International has no tracking or insurance! We have to use Express Mail International to get those "features". Man!

I wasn't inferring the cost of postage to my country was deliberately high, just that it puts the bidding on a back burner for me that's all :)

PS whoever wins it....take the case and the front fascia off, and submerge it in 10-15% 'food grade' Hydrogen Peroxide for about a day in the sunshine, it's going to fix all the yellowing no problem ;)

Something new - I found the original manual!  The "user manual" is a huge 4"x5.5" with 7 pages.
Not much really, but it's here...

OMG! This only went for $20? :(  Less than the cost of a good 1010 or 1011.

I have to admit... I totally forgot about the auction. Being sick of getting sniped at the last minute, about the only thing I use ePay for anymore are reasonable 'buy it nows' and even those are waning these days. Too bad you didn't offer this for sale here first, but can't say I blame you. Sales do seem to suck here for some reason.

I am selling off the last few Amiga items I have. I tried to sell one of these drives here, maybe a year ago, and couldn't get a $10.00 offer!
I will most likely even sell my A1000 system, IF I get enough for it.  It's a really nice system!
The A2000 will be all I keep.
