I've got the above named unit for non US A1000s (apparently there is two models, one for US keyboards, and one for non US keyboards).

I don't believe it needs drivers as it literally types out the correct sequences to reset date/time on power up if you boot with Workbench or the correct commands for setting time/date in the usual directory.

(and yes top cover is present unlike in the picture shown, as is the short lead that goes from the unit into the A1000 keyboard port)

Has it's own CPU and a small amount of memory to store keyboard macros too IIRC.
