Which CF adaptor....
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:28:02 PM »
I'm looking to replaced my lowly HDD with a CF card.....and I've seen  two on ebay......any ideas which would be best?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

or

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

They seem the same to me, although the latter has AmigaSYS4AGA, and  OS3.1.

Any help would be good......I don't see one on Amigakit.....and I'm sure  there was one already partitioned into 4 or something but can't find it

Sorry to have 'Hijacked' another thread thought it was related.....

Cheers Tris

Hello,

Yes it can take 4GB without problems.

We usually partition it as 500Mb, 1.7GB, 1.7GB but we can prep it to your specification if you wish

@AmigaKit
Dang! I didn't know you would do that! Thats great.
Will you put Amiga OS 3.1 or such on it too before shipping?
(I assume if I bought the OS either with a system or outright + fee?)

Is there any advantage to installing a double CF controller
with 2 CF cards in an A1200? Also, does the HDD light still function when
you use a CF controller or do you need to wire the light to the CF card?

Just curious....  I definetly want to do the CF card thing though.

I ordered one of Ebay a while back and it never worked even though it was advertised as working with the Amiga.  So I bought the whole kit from AmigaKit.com a few weeks ago.  It worked first time with no problems.   It was partitioned just as was mentioned in this thread already.  Of course, I had to use my 3.1 disks to finalize the install but that also worked without any problem.
Another very satisifed AmigaKit.com customer!

Oh yes.  The HD light still functions when the CF card is being accessed.  The Amiga thinks it's an IDE hard drive.  Don't have any experience with the double CF adaptor although I have seen them.  4GB on my Amiga1200 is huge!  I'm still installing stuff like mad!
