Ah, figured as much. My ROMs don't have the model name anywhere, only the serial no and a small sticker denoting 3.1 and the chip position.

The chip position would point that these are indeed for the A4000, but I haven't verified that no other machine has the same positions.. (why would they?)

I guess I'll just have to try and read the contents with some prommer and see what's in them..

Thanks for the info, everyone.

I would expect that the A4000T has the ROMs in the same chip positions (U175/176). Most of the 4000T motherboard is common with the 4000D.

Of course, the main difference between them is that the 4000T had real SCSI on board (like the 3000). But I don't think that would stop it booting altogether, just make some error messages or crashes.

My bet is your ROMs are screwed.

Actually, 40.68 ROMS will work fine in a 4000T, you just have to use load software scsi drivers instead of the 40.70 ROM handling it. In the last few months of the 4000T distribution, they resorted to shipping them with 40.68 ROMs instead of the 40.70 ROMs due to a flaw in the 40.70's. Some people will argue until they're blue in the face about this, but thems the facts.

My bet as well is that those ROMS you have are screwed. (or one of them is)
