Hi.
I have a BPPC with a 128MB SIMM mounted to it. This is more than enough for me on AmigaOS, but not for certain MorphOS programs such as OWB and battle of wesnoth. So, i'm considering to add another 128MB SIMM to the second slot.
Are there any disadvantages to this? Like increased memory fragmentation, slower memory access (both SIMMs will be identical) or anything?
I've had a pair of 128MB SIMMs in my BPPC for
years. The only side effects are an increased power usage (not much though) and more heat, but again, not that much.
256MB can even be put to good use on OS3.x. As an example, my system uses a 32MB RAD disk for the OS. When the machine cold boots, I use RequestFile to present a list of archived snapshots. The chosen snapshot is extracted into the RAD, which is then marked bootable (via the Install command) and then the machine reboots.
It's pretty handy as it allows me to run a variety of different configurations without having to use early startup and the like.
