more screenmodes amiga600
« on: April 06, 2010, 06:35:33 AM »
I am running turd2 a relaysteeringprogram on my amiga600.
But not all windows fit onto the screen so is there maybe a way to get a bit more resolution?
I already moved all available monitors from storage to devs:monitors but only one showing up is pal and ntsc.
Os is 3.1 don't care if it only leaves me with 8 colours or something.

Buying an Indivision ECS you can make your own resolutions, but for the A600 you need the (not so) expensive A603 and ditch the floppy drive*...

*Or make a hack to use an external floppy drive as DF0:

BTW: you are german, right? I noticed since you concatenate two words in one...:D
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

No not german Dutch.
Don't want to go the way off endless expanding.
I just want to use it for controlling some relays with relaysteeringprogram.
The program just needs some more room on the screen so bit more resolution would be nice.

Do you use a TV or a CRT monitor on your Amiga, or rather what output are you using? could you not use HAM mode?

Just FYI, among the germanic languages it is english that sticks out by not concatenting words like that. ;)

If you're using a TV or old 1084-type monitor with your amiga, the only way to get a higher resolution is to use an interlaced screen (PAL/NTSC Hires Interlaced). If you can live with the flicker, an interlaced PAL screen with full overscan should give you around 720x560 pixels of screen area, provided that the program supports it. If you use NTSC, the interlace flicker is reduced slightly but the resolution is slightly smaller.

If I'm not completely wrong, the ECS chips in the A600 should support Multiscan: Productivity in 4 colours, this should give you 640x480 in 60Hz, suitable for VGA monitors (without flickering) but it'll probably be slower than hungover snail in a salt pit.
Amiga: Too weird to live, too rare to die.

I think you are not completely wrong. :)

(Completely right, in fact. You might squeeze a bit more screen real-estate with Overscan, I'm not sure, but it should certainly do standard Productivity in 4 colours.)
:)
