Connecting A1200 to Apple Color RGB Monitor A2M6014
« on: March 25, 2010, 04:11:57 AM »
Hello all

I just got an old Apple IIGS color monitor (A2M6014) and according to the specs this could be used with an A1200, right?

The one question I have is regarding the RGB cable. The RGB connector on the A1200 is different than the one on the IIGS... I am having a hard time finding a cable that has the Amiga conector on one side and the IIGS monitor connector on the other.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Yes, it will work.
Will only display the 15kHz modes though, so forget the DBLPAL/DBLNTSC/PRODUCTIVITY.

Conversely, a 1084 monitor can be wired to an AppleIIgs  :)

No doubt you will have to make your own cable: 15pinD to 23pin Amiga.
The IIgs monitor uses the composite sync signal on the video port as opposed to seperate VSYNC/HSYNC signals normally used.

Thanks for the response. Do you know of any site or resource that might help me get such a cable done? i am a total newbie on this.

Also, why is this monitor unable to display DBLPAL/DBLNTSC/PRODUCTIVITY?

Thanks

Those are 31.5kHz modes, the monitor is a 15kHz monitor.

Do you think this one would work?

Monitor Cable, Amiga RGB (23-pin f.) to VGA 15-pin f. (for NEC MultiSync 3D etc.)
