Amiga driving testing early 90's
« on: March 15, 2010, 10:26:32 AM »
Hi,

Since other people are posting stories about their Amiga life, I thought I would share mine of missed opportunity (aint hindsight a wonderful thing).

Back when I was TAFE I was an avid Amos programmer and designed a program to test people to get their L's (their learner license) for my major project.

Because TAFE didn't have any Amiga's, I had to bring my Amiga 1200 in to demonstrate to the teacher, he was impressed! :hammer:

However he said pity I programmed it in Amos instead of Visual Basic as it was an ideal language for my simple click to choose interface.  I was stubborn and said the Amiga was a lot better than any IBM PC and didn't want to learn a basic for IBM PC.:madashell:

Time passed and wouldn't you know it a few years later, someone had designed a program that ran in Visual Basic for IBM PC's to do what my Amos program had set out to do, test people to get their L's. :(

This testing program is now used across the state of Tasmania and some times I wonder what could of been!

PS I can't wait to start coding in Amos again, I loved that language and how simple it was to program for (loved the example of a picture viewer with a couple lines of code).
