LOL!  I use the wet dog analogy all the time to describe the smell of sooooo many of the natives around here in WI. To compound matters, almost everyone smokes and wears Carthart or those stupid puffy skiing type coats (even though they don't ski)... so yeah - there you have it... a cigarette smoking dog that has been left out in the rain wearing cotton so that the funkiness stays with 'em no matter where they go. Those people just must be so used to their own funk - to NOT get it. lol

Oh and yeah, what's with women and their friggin' pets laying on them all the time OR their furniture?? Especially gross when they let them sit up near their faces when sleeping. Yuck.

May as well change the thread title to: "Pet lovers unite"!

Not just pet owners who smell.  Been to many an Amiga user group over the years and I can tell you that as a general group personal hygiene is not something they do well.  LOL

That seems to be true of a large percentage of video game/computing fanatics. No doubt! Pretty remedial stuff when you're wondering why you haven't landed a date for the past 20 years. lmao

Hi there,

You need to lift the plastic connector up and slot the ribbon back in.  Then you push it back down to close and hold the ribbon in place again if that makes sense.

Steve.

I almost fell off my chair laughing about the cat piss stench.

Baking soda and water, as much baking soda as will disolve in hot water...

That will soak up the cat piss stench, only on the keyboard and plastic parts, very lightly, don't put that on the circuitboard or electronic parts.

Usually, cat piss won't get inside, unless its one crafty cat, replace the keyboard if you can and just wipe the thing down a few times with baking soda/water solution.

I got a pc once with this problem, and that fixed it.

You really never know what your getting on ebay I guess, you got a good deal but maybe not after keyboard replaced and so much work to get it unstinky.

Sorted it! Problem now is that the mouse won't go up or down. Can I use a joystick instead, or?

Great deal, even with cat piss and clean-up.

I take it that the mouse is de-gunked fully? Maybe there's a real mouse inside blocking it up, which attracted the cat in the first place.

A replacement Amiga mouse is £14 on Amigakit.

Luckily someone at commodore had the sense to let you use the keyboard to move the mouse cursor. I think I'll leave off buying a new mouse for a while, Atleast untill I have room to move one, anyway.
