God-awful print output from AmigaWriter
« on: February 12, 2010, 05:10:00 AM »
I recently obtained AmigaWriter and upgraded it from 2.0 to 2.2.  I am horrified by the quality of the print output.  Even when using TrueType fonts, the printed fonts are jagged and misproportioned on all three printers available to me: a LaserJet 4050, DeskJet 882C, and OfficeJet 8500.

Are there any good solutions to this?

FinalWriter or Wordsworth :)

Both in my experience gave good output.

I've never used AmigaWriter, I has always heard it had "issues".
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Well, that is quite a bummer.  I was under the (apparently mistaken) impression that AmigaWriter was the better of them.

No, it was late to the show and the last to be updated.

Both Final Copy II and Final Writer gave excellent output.  Final Writer went through a number of feature-adding revisions in a race with Wordworth.  Final Writer 5 was, IMHO, the pinnacle of  usefulness.  The next and last revision, Final Writer 97, went too far and had some quirky behaviors, still good though.

I have Wordworth, but never put much time into it because Final Copy and Final Writer were so good.

EDIT:  AmigaWriter was also the most resource hungry. Final Copy was the least so, happy on an un-expanded A500.  Final Writer and Wordworth ran well with fast ram and a HHD and even better on a 1200 or higher.
