A4000D won't boot with CyberVision 64/3D card installed
« on: January 24, 2010, 11:19:51 PM »
My 6-year-old daughter asked me the other night if she could shoot some aliens on my Amiga 4000. That means firing up Deluxe Galaga and letting her go at it with the Competition Pro joystick. Upon launching the game, however, the screen became a garble of graphics mess. Tried to reboot, and no go. Hard drive won't light up and can't get to the boot menu with double mouse buttons. Can't boot from floppy either.

After much trial and error, found that the 4000 will boot with only the rare, add-on scandoubler module installed, but not with the main part of the CV64/3D installed in any slot. I believe the card has died on me.

Since I already have the rare scandoubler module, obviously I wouldn't mind having another CV64/3D or having this one repaired. Actually, I might even go both ways if possible to have a spare component.

Anybody got one for sale? Who repairs these things? Thanks!

I'm sure I saw one for sale on Amibay.

Ebay may have those kicking around, but surely at a much higher price.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Thanks. Will pursue an ad on Amibay as soon as my registration is approved over there.
