cd32 working, sx1 not
« on: January 07, 2010, 02:53:08 AM »
Got the cd32 out to celebrate the new Amigas coming, its fine, but the sx1 appears DOA

Is there reliable service for this sx1 in North America?

Has anyone used the indivision aga scandoubler on their
cd32?

Can a bootable cd32 disc like Amiga Format/CU Amiga used to sell
be created with tools that are free and legal?

Thanks for any clues!

Regarding the SX-1, detach it and reconnect it to the CD32 (while powered off, of course). Then check if your PSU is strong enough.

Bootable CD32 discs need a CD32.TM file embedded in the ISO. You can get the .TM file and embedding tool as part of the CD32 dev kit on any of the Amiga Developer CDs.

It's possible that the problem is with your CD32 and not the SX-1. We have two CD32s here, one of them works fine with the SX32 and the other doesn't work with it at all. When I opened them both up, I noticed that the one that won't work with the SX32 (but still works on its own) has a big capacitor expanding and ready to explode. Old capacitors and batteries are common causes of many problems in old Amigas, so maybe you could unscrew the CD32 and check it out.

I'm going to be sending the CD32s off to get all their capacitors replaced (along with some A1200s and A2000s) soon, so I'll report back if this fixes the problem with the SX32 not working with the CD32.

Oh, and the SX32 is similar to the SX-1, it's just an internal model and fits better. They both work the same.

Oh, and as for a bootable Workbench CD with utilities and stuff on it, someone has recently created such a pack which boots up faster than any previous Workbench CD on a CD32.

For more info, have a look here http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=613893&postcount=59
