Hatari is a pretty good emulator, but it uses SDL (ergo requires a graphics card), and is very slow on even '060,.. definately for amithlon and UAE people only for os3.x. The only real option for atari st emulation for classic users is STonX, which is a magnitude of times faster, and runs on AGA.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

You would think that an st emulator would be quite quick on the amiga, more or less the same machine. Only have to emualte the sub-standard graphics chip

It's easy to virtualize the operating system. It's a lot trickier to emulate the machine, at least if you want to be compatible with ... well most stuff. That's a huge difference. The interrupt controller, the blitter etc. Even the graphics hardware becomes slightly tricky, because the plane interleave is difficult to achieve on the Amiga w.o. having to shuffle the bitplanes manually (copper interleave afaik does longword interleave, while the ST uses 16 bit interleave). Even though it has the same CPU, you'll probably have to emulate it if you want some degree of hardware compatibility.

Where can I find STonX? for AGA I can only find a version for Graphics cards

Theres a few emulators like Chemelion and Medusa best suited to 68000 that load TOS into memory and can run most GEM apps full speed - Ive also had Sundog and Colonial Conquest running.

Medusa hacked version may run. Chamaeleon requires kickstart 1.3 IIRC... and there was another one quite proffesional but I can't remember the name. It didn't support 040 IIRC and I have vague memories about Ralph Schmidt being its author.
