Is there interest in Amiga 3000 ZIP memory?
« on: December 10, 2009, 02:34:14 PM »
Hi,

I've been looking for memory for my Amiga 3000D, which is in short supply. Currently there is an Ebay seller listing a 16MB set for $160.

I found a Chinese/HongKong based supplier that has some stock of the HM514400CZ7, which should work and provide 16MB of memory using 32 ZIP chips.

I'm willing to purchase a few hundred of these chips and sub-sell them to Amiga enthusiasts here. My risk, if the chips don't arrive or don't work when I test them nothing lost. I'm looking for about $3 per chip plus shipping, price depending on demand. Buying price for me will be be about $0.25 less to cover shipping from Hong Kong, I'm not trying to make a profit. Shipping will be from the Netherlands using a regular (anti-static) envelope to keep shipping charges low.

Please reply or PM if you're interested and for how many chips. At the end of the weekend I'll make up the total balance and check if it is worthwhile to do.

As there was hardly any interest in this I've dropped it from my list... If anybody finds this thread and is interested in the where and how, drop me a PM ;-)

Why would you bother with ZIP chips when you can buy a ZIP-SIMM adapter from DJBase?

ZIP chips are so much more fun, it's like doing a jigsaw puzzle!
