FS: Apollo 1260 w. 32 meg.
« on: October 30, 2009, 10:19:51 PM »
I bought this Apollo 1260 card on eBay, sold as working, but was not able to get it running on my amiga 1200. I have had problems with other cards on my A1200 tho.

But Since I did not get it running, I can't promise anything.

If it runs on your amiga 1200, then you have a cheap card, if not, I am sure it can be fixed, I just dont have the energy to put into it.

Asking price 150 euros.

The 68060 is the "good one" with mask 71E41J I beleive its the one that can be clocked to 80 mhz.

It depends :D My experiense is that apollo works just fine with rev 1d4 mobo and kickstart 3.0 and refuses to work with same mobo and kickstart 3.1

Reb 2b mobo is totally unuseable with apollo.

RemApollo is must if buyer is going to use zorro II cards or other expansions, than HD and CD

PS. Apollo would feel much faster than Blizzard 060 because it fast (non standard) chip memory acces. In fact when I get my blizzard I thought that it is broken because it felt so much slower

Its because the Blizzards are buffered so that they will work on any motherboards without the worry of timing issues.

The apollos are a lot faster but need mobo modifications to get them to work properly.

It could be that that your card is asking for the correct simm. Apollos are very picky in matter of memory. They seem to like certain simms over another.

So in reality it might be my Mobo that does not want to work with it??

The reason the Apollo boards are so finickerty is the timings have to absolutely spot on & what affects these factors are just down to the Mobo revision. EAB is a good place to get modification information accordingly & one of the best chaps to talk to is Zetr0. You can also get hold of him over @ AmiBay.

I had an Apollo 1240 which was converted to an 060 & it ran perfectly on my Rev 1D4 motherboard with 3.1ROMS & Mediator. Get the required mods done to your board or find a 1D4 & you should be good to go.

With regard to Blizzards being slower than the Apollo, if you have a Blizzard board with SCSI, it floors an Apollo overall.

Best Wishes,

Kin
