Cannot use Concierto
« on: October 29, 2009, 10:41:59 PM »
Hello everyone!

I hope someone can help me figure this out because I've run out of ideas :(

I have a PicassoIV and a Concierto cards, but whenever I try to use the concierto (if only to configure it via AHI prefs) the machine crashes and immediatley reboots.

The same happens when I try to run the concierto mixer or anything that opens concierto.library. This last statement is my guess because if I rename concierto.library then there is no crash and no reboot. Of course, programs complain about not finding the library.

I think the concierto is working properly (hardware wise) because it is recognized in Picasso's "early startup" menu and I can hear the bell when the computer starts and also I get audio from its output connector, although as I understand it, since concierto.library has been disabled what I'm hearing is actually Paula audio being redirected.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

I don't have exact versions here (I'm at work right now) but I'm using latest AHI (6) and the concierto drivers included in the AHI driver archive.

Not sure if there could be any type of conflict with other hardware. My machine is a A4000D with X-Surf 3cc, Deneb and Cyberstorm PPC 060@50 / 604@233. Oh! and I'm using AmigaOS 3.9 Boing Bag 2

Thanks!!

Regards,
Efrén

Hi. I also have one but never had that problem. 3.9BB2 too here but with CyberstormMK2 060.
I think you probably have a software problem somewhere. Are you sure you installed the AHI version that corresponds to your CPU ? BTW ver.6 is way too heavy you could try 4.18. Probably extreme but to avoid the mess with installing/uninstalling AHI make a clean AmigaOS3.1 install on a spare partition and then boot from it.
Also, maybe the concierto library you have is corrupt, it's probably rare but it's happened to me while downloading from Aminet too.

Out of curiosity, how's the sound level on your system ? I had to start the mixer before running other apps to raise the levels...

BTW, I'm using BB2 but without the rom update, but doubt that makes any difference...

AFAIK, there are no processor-specific binaries. At least not in the archive I used.

I can check versions now. I installed AHI 6.0 from the archive m68k-amigaos-ahiusr.lha (718,274 bytes) and the drivers from m68k-amigaos-ahidrv.lha (123,847 bytes). Downloaded from Aminet IIRC.

I think I will, I'll be able to check if the card actually works! (I'm beginning to worry)

concierto.library I'm using is ver 7.1 (01/18/1999). (27,904 bytes)

It sounds nice for me, although I have no reference to compare it with. Hopefully when this problem is solved, I'll be able to check the level with and without starting the mixer and post back my findings here.

Thanks for your help! I'll go and keep trying ;)

I'm using the ROM Update. I'll try & disable it, see what happens.

Thanks!

Update: I disabled the ROM Update but no luck. The same reboot happens.

I'll keep searching.

Well, so far I've tried AHI 6, 5 (from the OS 3.9 CD) and 4 from Aminet, all three of them with the same result: a nasty reboot.

So AHI is not the problem, all three versions work fine in Paula modes. I re downloaded Concierto files from Sofisticated Development site and reinstall them. Same results... :(

Maybe the hardware *is* damaged. :(

So sad...

Thanks for you help! if someone has an idea I would be very grateful!

Efrén
