PFS3 Format Question
« on: October 30, 2009, 10:31:56 PM »
I have recently gotten up the nerve to attempt to change my filesystem from FFS to PFS3.  My question concerns the formatting of the partitions.  Is the format the same if you do it using the dropdown menu and choose Format as it is if you use the pfsformat command with the CLI?  I have done it with the dropdown menu method and a box appears after the format saying "Professional File System 3" and some other info.  Everything appears to be OK but if it is this easy, why the need for the CLI command?  Thanks,

Dan

Formatting should be the same, but pfsformat lets you specify PFS specific options for deldir size and maximum allowed filename length, the included setdeldir and setfnsize commands will also let you set these options.

Where can one buy PFS3?

The links on the official website appear to be out of date...

I don't believe it is available new anymore.  I got my copies from EBay over the last couple of years.  You could also watch AmiBay if you haven't been banned from that site yet.  If PFS3 is still available somewhere than I will have to be corrected.

I think it's still available @ softwarehut.
