Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition: Simple Question
« on: July 07, 2009, 05:31:18 AM »
Hello, I have a simple question for anybody who may have the answer.  Currently on my Amiga 2000, I have a 2091 w 2mb installed.  I find this scsi card extremely slow and would like to find a faster alternative.  I was reading up on the following card: Buddha Flash Phoenix Edition.  Is this a faster card that the 2091 even though its IDE?  Also, is it possible to boot of the Buddha into Amiga OS 3.1?  Also, how hard is it to configure on the Amiga 2000?  Is it complicated and are there a lot of compatibility issues I need to know about?  Thanks.

I couldn't tell you if it is really faster, as I don't see much of a difference.  But when I run a sysinfo and do a speed check there is a significant difference between the two, but I don't notice it when loading and stuff.  I used to get about 1 Meg a second with the 2091 (I  think approximately) and I get supposedly 2-3 Meg a second on the Buddha.  Just doesn't seem faster though.

2.7MB/S on my Buddha.  3.1 boots fine.  It works like standard IDE controller on a Pee Cee. Master Slave, etc. I backed up my fav 3.9 system setup onto a slave ide disk(20GB). You just use HDToolBox like on a A1200. I have a DVD drive attached but mostly use it as a CD as the OS tends to freakout with the DVD file system when there are a lot of files and directories present: I put it down to GURU getting old, he/she doesnt like counting past 255?
But if you buy one you'll never have to worry about fading 50PIN SCSI HDs again.  You'll have old IDEs coming out of your ears.
