« on: May 25, 2007, 01:51:40 PM »
The latest version of VNC client (remote access to a computer running a VNC server)

TwinVNC can be downloaded from here.

Now Twin VNC is now GiftWare.

Great enhancements such as smooth scaling, are now available!

Please edit the post, I see words repeated many times (I guess I was too excited with the news!).

I`ve been trying to install XP Pro over the Home edition, just to use the Remote Desktop. With the new features it`s not necessary any more!
Great piece of s/w!

Oh I wish it were true that VNC WAS a valid replacement for Remote Desktop.  Sadly Remote Desktop is ALWAYS an order of magnitude more responsive.

I suspect its what comes of building the functionality deeper into Windows and catching API calls for graphics rather than just trying to pipe an image of the screen down the line, nomatter how cleverly VNC does it.

Amiga does have a Remote Desktop client. Here's the URL:

http://www.hd-zone.com/rdesktop/rdesktop.htm

They have versions for for OS4 as well as OS3.

I use it with my Windows XP Pro computer from my Amithlon (OS3.9) with no problems. Its very responsive and fast.

fist of all, is not that correct to hijack a thread with such "news" that btw, everyone already knows.

Secondly Rdesktop requires xppro while TwinVNC not.

ops... thanks a lot to the author/s :-)

Will try this. The last version didn't work at all for me, I'm still using AmiVNC.
Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you!

AmiVNC is a VNC server.

TwinVNC is a client.

Just tried it out on an office Linux server. It works beautifully on my Amithlon machine.
