HTMLview MUI custom class finally released under LGPL
« on: March 14, 2007, 03:34:34 AM »
The HTMLview.mcc MUI class authors are proud to announce that finally after 10 years of successfull development on the AmigaOS platform, the full sources of the HTMLview.mcc MUI custom class are now released under the LGPL license.

Since 2000 the sources were kinda lost because the original author (Allan Odgaard) faced a harddisk crash. However, in early 2005 another try was started to recover the sources from that particular harddisk and luckily the full sources were salvaged from it. Therefore the sources are now release under the LGPL Open source license to 1. attract more developers to it and 2. to have "the internet" as the future backup server for it.

The sources are now hosted on a sourceforge.net SVN and every interested developer is invited to contribute to the development of the HTMLview.mcc class, especially for the upcoming efforts in AmigaOS4/MorphOS development.

Yes, he was a genius Amiga programmer long before he was a genius Mac programmer  :-)

Just more proof that, for many years, the Amiga had some of the best developers in the world, for any platform...

Wrong. It DOES not, but maybe some day it WILL :-)

Well, I personally doubt it...

I'm impressed they hung on that hard drive for all those years and finally found a way to get it to spit out the data.

I once pulled the data from 20gig hard drive by placing in the freezer for an hour. It lasted 15 mins longer that it took to back up the data.... then it breathed no more.
 :horse:

That was lucky !
and a timely reminder to me to get a backup drive, given that my sole Hard disk is also 20GB...!
