Poseidon v3.5
« on: December 24, 2006, 04:50:54 PM »
Poseidon V3.5 is available through the  Trident  update  function.  I  will
upload  it  to  my  website  in a few days as well. It fixes the issues that
people reported about their keyfile not being accepted every time.

The bad news:

- Elbox products are no longer supported and  hence  no  keyfiles  will  be issued that will make the Spider work with Poseidon.

The good news:

- Registrations are possible again for the classic Amigas except for the
  Spider.

- Those, who already have a registered V3.x keyfile will not be affected by this and can continue to use Poseidon V3.x and also the V3.5 update.

- There will be at least one further update for 68k next year.

Users registering for full personal licences have to use Poseidon V3.5,  as the  keyfiles  will  not  work  with  version below. I think this is a good compromise for those wanting to  use  Poseidon  for  Amithlon,  ArakAttack, Thylacine etc.

Online registration through my website and Trident will be available  in  a few minutes.

Merry x-mas.

PS: Demo timeouts are now more clearly marked in PoPo and the error log, so you will know if it's due to keyfile problems.

Ok, if Spider is no longer supported, how about supporting some other PCI USB card, so those of us with PCI expansions can take advantage of USB devices?

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -

Problem is that's only possible after getting the SDK (if your talking bout Mediator), which comes a licence even more restrictive and bizzare than what we are used to....
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

@Dr_Righteous:

Have a look at OpenPCI in combination with ArakAttack. This should support mediator with standard PCI usb cards (instead of expensive spiders)...

(haven't tried myself yet)

Hmh.. this sucks. Why not accepting registrations for Spider? Isn't it pure money for Chris anyway. He doesn't even have to make the driver as it's made by Elbox. So it's just everyone's loss.

VERY bad news :-(

I bought a Mediator PCI for my amiga 4000 with a Spider borda more than one year ago (it was a special offer) used the mediator with all the other hardware but kept the Spider in a drawer... now I can't use it at all as I didn't register before and I can't event send it back to ELBOX as I bought it a lot of time ago!

Sad.  Oh well, maybe ArakAttack + OpenPCI will work.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(
