CYBERVISION 643D BOARDS AVAILABLE AGAIN !!
« on: October 22, 2006, 12:23:53 PM »
Software Hut has just purchased the remaining inventory of Eyetech's stock of this highly sought after graphics board. We have in stock almost 50 pieces of Cybervision 643D boards. They are new, boxed and tested. The boards work on all Amiga zorro based systems and include all A2000, 3000 and 4000 models. You can now use your Amiga with higher resolutions and low cost PC monitors. Best of all we have a special price of $ 179.95. That is $ 120.00 less than the original retail price. Order early as our stock will not last long. The boards come with a 6 month warranty.

To order you can go to the link under featured products on our home page at www.softhut.com or directly to the following link:

I sold my Amiga for a small fortune, but a part of my soul went with it.

Very tempting.  I'm still trying to find a video card which will give me 32-bit above 1024x768 :(  Even though this is 3D, would I not do better with a PCI expansion and a cheap PCI vid card?  Neither will have SD/FF, so what the hay?

EDIT: I actually meant 24-bit above 1024x768.

How would one compare this board, to a Picasso IV?

Hmmm a bunch of CV3Ds. I wish they had found a batch of GREX-PCI cards instead. Anyone wish to sell me one?

PIV is not 3D, and includes a SD/FF for the video slot.  So, there are pros on both sides of the coin here.  Even so, I agree with the last post: someone PLEASE find a bunch of G-Rex 4000d :-)

PIV is not 3D

Neither is CV 64/3D, in practice. The 3D part is pretty much useless. In fact, the CV 64 is a better card than the 64/3D one.

Out of these two cards, PIV is clearly better.

g-rex1200's are easy to find, I had 2!!! amigakit has some too...
now the g-rex4000's are hard to find! I only started migrating to 4000ppc from 1200ppc when I got a g-rex4000D from eBay... never saw one for more than a year... so I grabbed is as soon as I saw it for 200euro.

"Out of these two cards, PIV is clearly better."

So, for someone with an A3000T-040, PicassoII, that has had zero luck locating a P-IV -- is this a valid choice in the mean time? :-)

@AndrewB
I would recommend trying to find an original CV64 instead, it has a built-in monitorswitcher which works really nice with an A3000 and it's SD/FF. The CV64 has a much better picture quality than the CV643D and is a faster card.
Slightly bored and severly confused..

I would throw $150 with it and get a PCI busboard and a modern gfx card. $179 for an 8 year old gfx card that was out of date when it was produced is an insult to users' intelligence.  It does not matter what the list was when it was released.

I mean...the list on a compaq 286 system was $3000 when it was released.

Yeah I know...economies of scale and all that...blah blah.

I just know that in 2000, I ordered a CSPPC/060+CVPPC from europe, payed the exchange fee and overseas shipping and still got it for $100 less than I could buy the CSPPC by itself in the USA.
